a shared project by Grazia Cantoni, Daniela Spaletra and Andrea Luporini that begins with a reflection/research about our territory, with particular attention to contaminated emergencies that often seem to be forgotten. This is precisely the idea of PUBLIC GARDENS.
The territory of La Spezia as well as dozens of other sites throughout Europe, is martyred by environmental abuses: the artists' families were direct witnesses of the consequences that polluted land can cause.
While Luporini with his photographs shows the psychological mechanisms that we are all willing to apply for the need to live within a society, Public Gardens installation with modular hexagonal flower beds containing phyto-reparative plants that have the ability to feed on heavy metals and survive in highly polluting land, becomes a metaphor for a possible cure.
